Greeting

We are the congregation of the Manasquan Reformed Bible Church. It is our desire that you join us in the worship of God so that you will hear the Gospel message. This is no light matter, for the future state of your soul depends on whether God is your Friend and Master.

We firmly believe that the only rule of faith is the Holy Bible. We accept it as the inerrant and infallible Word of God. As such, every aspect of our lives must be lived in accord with God’s revealed will. We do not treat this as a chore, but rather as a privilege to be able to serve the One who saved us from the bondage of sin and death. 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

We believe in the Sovereign, Triune God who created and sustains all things. God has revealed Himself as one God in three Persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory. It is the Son, Jesus Christ, who took on a human nature (yet without sin) to pay for the sins of His elect people. Hebrews 2:14, “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil”

We believe in presenting a clear message about God. It is for this reason that we adhere to a written creed. The creed we follow is the Westminster Confession of Faith. This document dates back to the 17th century. It summarizes the basic doctrines of Christianity as presented in the Scriptures.

We are a reformed church. Our roots extend back to the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century and the foundational teaching that salvation is wholly of God’s Sovereign grace. We believe that man is a fallen creature in a fallen world. The natural state of man is to reject God and to love sin. John 3:19, “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” All men are unrighteous and deserving of the eternal wrath and punishment of God. The only one who can change this is the Lord Jesus Christ. Through the hearing of His Word and the work of the Holy Spirit He saves men by enabling them to repent of their sins and turn to God by faith. This is the reason God’s covenant people serve Him with joy and trust in Christ alone for salvation.

Our church is Presbyterian. The word “presbyter” is Greek for “old man” or “elder”. God teaches us in His Word that His church is to be ruled by elders, men who are mature in the faith. Our elders serve Christ by guiding our congregation according to the doctrines of Scripture. They, in turn, must answer to a larger governing body comprised of elders from other churches of like faith. In this way Jesus maintains the integrity of His church.  We are members of The Reformed Presbyterian Church – Hanover Presbytery.

Once again, we invite you to join us in the worship of God through the Lord Jesus Christ, His Son. We hope that you will find us to be a warm and caring people who truly love the Lord.
